Optimization and growth in first-passage resetting

چکیده

We combine the processes of resetting and first-passage to define \emph{first-passage resetting}, where a random walk fixed position is triggered by event itself. In an infinite domain, isotropic diffusion non-stationary, with number events growing time as $\sqrt{t}$. calculate resulting spatial probability distribution particle analytically, also obtain this geometric path decomposition. finite interval, we optimization problem that controlled resetting; scenario motivated reliability theory. The goal operate system close its maximum capacity without experiencing too many breakdowns. However, when breakdown occurs reset minimal operating point. optimize objective function maximizes reward (being operation) minus penalty for each breakdown. investigate extensions basic model include delay after two dimensions. Finally, study growth dynamics domain in which boundary recedes specified amount whenever diffusing reaches occurs. determine rate semi-infinite line interval find wide range behaviors depend on how much recession hits boundary.

Competing Growth and Geodesics in First-passage Percolation

We consider a competing spatial growth dynamics permitting that more than one cluster develop in the same environment given by a first-passage percolation model on a Voronoi tiling of the plane. We focus on the long time behavior of these competing clusters and derive some limit theorems related to the morphology of the “competition interface”. To study the structure of this interface we use th...

Reverse Shapes in First-Passage Percolation and Related Growth Models

Over the past 40 years, it has been observed that many of the simplest random and deterministic local growth dynamics expand at a linear rate in each radial direction, and attain an asymptotic geometry. Shape theorems to this effect have been proved in several instances. In a similar manner, initially very large holes within supercritical local dynamics may be expected to attain a characteristi...

First passage percolation and a model for competing spatial growth

An interacting particle system modelling competing growth on the Z2 lattice is defined as follows. Each x ∈ Z2 is in one of the states {0, 1, 2}. 1’s and 2’s remain in their states forever, while a 0 flips to a 1 (resp. a 2) at a rate equal to the number of its neighbours which are in state 1 (resp. 2). This is a generalization of the well known Richardson model. 1’s and 2’s may be thought of a...

Optimization of First Passage Times by Multiple Cooperating Mobile Traps

Abstract. We study the mean capture time of an unbiased random walker by multiple absorbing mobile traps in bounded domains of one and two spatial dimensions. In one dimension, we consider multiple traps undergoing prescribed oscillatory motion on an interval with reflecting or absorbing boundary conditions. We develop trap co-operation strategies which optimize the mean capture time. We find t...
